It’s time to dust off the cobwebs of winter once and for all, and if Treefort Music Fest wasn’t your kickstart to the season, there are plenty of other ways to get energized. For City Cast Boise podcast host Lindsay Van Allen it’s garage sales, for contributor Nick Quah it’s training for the Race to Robie Creek — as the ramp up to summertime, April is a personal journey. Here are a few ways to kickstart your month.
💐 Get Your Flowers
🎶 It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Farmers market season is almost upon us with a market starting in nearly every city in the valley either this Saturday or next. But our area’s incredible farmers markets aren’t just for flowers — they’re a way to get the earliest produce, support local artists and makers, and say hi to somebody.
- Boise Farmers Market opens April 6.
- Nampa Farmers Market has a soft opening April 6.
- Meridian Main Street Farmers Market kicks off April 13.
- Capital City Public Market returns to downtown Boise April 13.
Most of these markets are also looking for volunteers! Springtime + volunteering = a great opportunity to make new friends and get involved in the community.
April is also the time to grow your own flowers and veggies as well as buy them. We’ll keep the gardening guidance coming in the next few weeks, but here’s your starter.
