We’ve turned the corner into the last month of the year, which means it’s time for the last monthly guide of 2024! Here’s how to make the most of everything going on in Boise this December.

🎿 Get Into the Winter Spirit

From skiing to hot springs to snowshoeing, Idaho turns into a whole different recreational playground this month. Bogus Basin, Tamarack, and Brundage all opened in the last week or two for the season.

If you just want a hike in the snow, try one of these snowshoeing trails to start. And if you need a soak after, relisten to this etiquette guide for hot springs and find a new one to visit.

🎁 Holiday Shopping

Visiting a few gift markets now will not only save you from a mad dash of last minute shopping and Amazon orders, but help you soak up the season. Many of these markets are one day only, but some run all month long.

If you’re feeling uncreative and considering the safe bet of a gift card, skip an Amazon or Walmart for a Downtown Boise Association gift card.

🍿 It’s Also Movie Season

Whether you’re prioritizing the debut of “Gladiator II” or seeing “White Christmas” for the umpteenth time (or both), movie theaters are a second home during December.

The Egyptian Theatre has dozens of holiday movies showing this month, and of course the Flicks is hitting its stride right now.

☕ Cozy, Warming Eats and Drinks

On the City Cast Boise podcast, the trio recommended food items for December can’t really be beat: Mexican mochas, pho, and Bar Gernika.

No friend will ever be upset if you offer to bring pho to the function. Pho Nouveau, Pho Nouveau, and Pho Le are some of my favorites, as someone who ate pho six times in November 🍜
