During July, everyone is grilling, enjoying the fireworks to varying degrees, going on picnics, and catching the sunshine. July is a catch! What else is there to say but enjoy it? Here are some of the best ways to spend your July in Boise.
🎆 Celebrate the Fourth of July
The nation’s birthday falls on a Thursday this year, and there’s no shortage of public celebrations to attend. If you time it correctly, you could float the river down to Ann Morrison Park and stay there for food and fireworks. Boise has a parade in the morning, and her neighbors have celebrations too, including Meridian, Caldwell, Kuna, McCall, and more.
⚾ Get a Hot Dog and an Ice Cream Helmet
Starting July 2, the Boise Hawks play at Memorial Stadium almost every day until July 16, when they hit the road for two weeks. So get yourself to the ball game during the first half of the month, and you won’t regret it. Revisit our guide for some tips.
🌊 Float the River
Everyone and their dog (literally) is considering a river float. July is the best time to do it — water levels aren’t low enough yet that you’ll be scraping your butt along the riverbed, and wildfire smoke hasn’t made spending three hours outside unbearable.
🍿 Catch a Flick, But Outside
Between Settlers Park in Meridian and Julia Davis in Boise, you’ve got three FREE outdoor movie nights for the family in July. Plus, host Lindsay Van Allen highly recommends the Terrace Drive-In in Caldwell, which reopens July 12 according to their website, and the Parma Motor-Vu Drive-In.
🧺 Pack Your Own Lunch
Take your pick of the best parks for a picnic and get out the door. For fare, we highly recommend A’Tavola, Baguette Deli, and Uncle Giuseppe’s.
