Every month, we compile a list of ways to maximize the joy of living in Boise. For this month’s guide, I joined two October queens in City Cast Boise podcast host Lindsay Van Allen and From Boise’s Marissa Lovell to break down everything that makes October great in Boise.
Get Outside!
For much of October, Boise’s weather should stay in that sweet spot of cold nights and chilly-to-warm days, which makes for excellent running and biking weather. It’s also race season, with a fun run happening almost every weekend this month.
- Harrison Classic Kids Run, Oct. 5
- SueB 5K, Oct. 6
- City of Trees Marathon, Oct. 12
- Pace for Peace 5K, Oct. 19
- YMCA Halloween Monster Mile & Freaky 5K, Oct. 26
Get in the Halloween Spirit
Big Halloween should be paying Marissa Lovell, because she always shares the best Halloween happenings around town in her newsletter. We’ll be sharing some of them too, but her top pick for something that’ll freak you out is the Old Pen’s Halloween party, Squawky & Spirits, on Oct. 25 and 26th. She recommends getting your tickets now!
Get a Taste of Downtown
October is the month for pumpkin spice lattes and candy, but it’s also the month when we get treated to nine days of deals and culinary experiments from downtown restaurants. Taste of Downtown runs from Friday, Oct. 18, to Sunday, Oct. 27, and there’s a good chance that your favorite spot — and that one you’ve been wanting to try — are participating, so take a look at the specials and prix fixe menus.
