Our food scene continues to grow as new restaurants open around the Treasure Valley. So what’s hot right now, and which classic and new eateries should you get a reservation to ASAP?
Hello Meridian’s Natalie Plummer shared her top spots from extravagant seafood to rustic Italian cuisine recently on the City Cast Boise podcast.
Rustica
To make the most of the summer, Natalie is searching for special dishes and a patio experience. Luckily for us, Boise’s newest Italian restaurant opened where the beloved Juniper once stood on 8th Street. At Rustica, you’ll find Italian food with a twist of Spanish and French influences.
What to get: Natalie recommends the chicken caesar salad, which she described as the best salad she’s ever had, along with the beef ragout made with braised beef, red wine pan sauce, chefs mushrooms and polenta. If you’re on the hunt for elevated comfort food this summer, Rustica is the place to be.
Bardenay in Eagle
There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the classics. At Bardenay you’ll find a wide variety of affordable items on the menu, from flavorful salads to ribeye steak. To stay on theme for the summer you have to sit on the patio, grab a drink and enjoy the view.
What to get: I recommend the fish tacos and a prickly pear margarita!
Han’s Chimaek
Chimaek means fried chicken and beer in Korean. If those are two of your favorite things then you need to run to Han’s Chimaeks in Boise, which also made Hey Boise’s list of Broadway Avenue restaurants to try.
What to get: Natalie says the Korean chicken is moist, flavorful and crisp. What more can you ask for? All you have to do is pick your chicken, favorite sauce and a side.
Coa Del Mar
One of the most anticipated restaurants to open this year was Coa Del Mar. Like its sister restaurants Coa De Jima and Barbacoa, this seafood restaurant brings a larger than life feeling to your table. They’re focused on serving fresh seafood and upscale vibes to the Treasure Valley.
What to get: Feel like splurging? Order La Coa Tower with lobster tails, oysters, mussels, prawns, crab claws, salmon ceviche and tuna ceviche for $295.
