Today may be Valentine’s Day, and for some folks that might mean takeout instead of a dinner that costs three figures. Or maybe the snow caused you to cancel your plans — either way, we’ve got some delicious takeout options from the City Cast Boise crew. Don’t forget to tip your delivery drivers!
North End Chinese Restaurant
If you first think of Chinese food when you hear the word “takeout,” then North End Chinese Restaurant will nail your expectations and then some. It’s sweet, sticky, a little spicy, and speedy — all the hallmarks of good takeout.
Mount Everest Momo Cafe
Everyone who knows about Everest Momo raves about it, and for good reason. It’s a Nepalese restaurant on Broadway Avenue with influences from both Indian and Chinese cuisines surrounding Nepal. Their dumplings are some of the best in town, as is every entree, but nothing can beat their rich but lean chana masala.

Tarbush Kitchen
Owned and operated by the former head of Good Land Market (which also makes for good takeout), Tarbush is both a restaurant and market with Mediterranean classics like hummus plates, dolma, and kebab. All of their entrees are takeout-friendly, but you have to get an appetizer or two as well — I recommend the kibba potato and Iraqi pickles.
Twisted Fig
Caldwellians are lucky to have Twisted Fig’s sandwiches on the Indian Creek Plaza. It’s on the lunch rotation for City Cast Boise podcast producer Evelyn Avitia, who loves the Cluckin’ Good, a spicy chicken and bacon specialty.
Fiesta Chicken
This Mexican fast food joint makes it onto the list because it’s quick, filling, tasty, and cheap. You can order roasted chicken with sides or the expected classics like burritos, enchiladas, and tacos. If you’ve got kids, Fiesta Chicken needs to be in the rotation!
