The In-N-Out Burger empire has officially expanded to Boise city limits, though the sizzle of the new location near the Boise Towne Square Mall didn’t reach the frenzy of Idaho’s first In-N-Out last year.
But if the line sounds too long or you feel like getting your burger fix from a local griddle, we’ve got some ideas.
Big Bun Drive-In
A Boise classic for a reason, Fanci Freez bought this local spot and ran it for a few years (and the quality went down, apparently it was big drama back in the day), and was bought back by some employees, to its benefit. Big Bun is a staple!
Hawkins Pac-Out
Known for their breakfast burritos as well as their burgers, Hawkins Pac-Out got a B+ from us, with a penalty partially because of the wait. However, they use quality ingredients and are a North End favorite.
Wyld Child
This is a newer spot, but has quickly become one of Boise’s best. Theirs is a smashburger with a few nice bells and whistles — but if you'd rather have a fried chicken sandwich, they've got that too.
Totally Smashed
This Warehouse Food Hall tenant opened quietly this summer, and it remains a sleeper hit with super flavorful smashburgers and a lot of great add-ons. I recommend the Spicy Smash (add even more jalapeños, for fun), with a strawberry shake.
For sides:
- Fries and shakes from Westside Drive In.
- Big Bun’s tater tots.
- Hawkins Pac-Out’s tots.
