It hasn’t been a particularly busy week in the local food scene, but here are a few things to know about.

Mai Thai Kitchen Fire

A kitchen fire began early Wednesday morning at the popular restaurant Mai Thai on Idaho Street between 8th and Capitol. Neither BoiseDev nor Mai Thai’s Facebook page mentioned any injuries.

The restaurant will be closed until further notice as the kitchen is being repaired.

Keep an eye on their Facebook page for closure updates.

Italian + Steakhouse + Speakeasy

According to the Idaho Statesman, Corso Italian Steak plans to bring “the best of Italian cuisine with the indulgence of a traditional steakhouse” to Boise early next year.

Located in the old Jalapeño’s Bar & Grill building at 1555 South Broadway Ave., next to Pizza Twist, the restaurant is being created by local DBS Hospitality.

It’ll feature a bar, large dining room, and a speakeasy with an alley entry.

Psst … if you don’t want to wait to check out a new speakeasy, there’s another already up and running called the Alley Lounge, though it’ll be closed for a week starting on Tuesday.

Middleton Liquors Up 🥃

Middleton has been a “dry city” since citizens voted 76 years ago to only allow establishments to sell beer and wine. But on Tuesday, 70% of voters approved a measure to allow restaurants and bars to sell liquor by the drink.
