Here’s a short guide to the week of Christmas, for which you probably already have plans, but I figured you could always use a place for a good seasonal coffee, a place to take a friend, and some last minute gift ideas.
Christmas Coffees
Move aside, pumpkin spice, it’s peppermint mocha season. And the very best I found this year was Common Ground’s up on Ustick Road. The women behind this new coffee shop have put together one of the best third spaces in town in less than a year, and we’re all luckier for it — and like I said, their peppermint bark latte is next level.
Cozy Holiday Nights Out
One of the delights of the holiday season is getting to go out, but in a warm, bustling setting. Nowhere hits those marks right now better than Les Bois Wines, which has become a fast favorite of mine since going for the first time a couple months ago. The owner Ben and their entire staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and want to build a community. It’s a perfect place to go on a free evening this time of year!
Last-Minute Gift Cards
Move aside, Amazon and Wal-Mart — here are some special local businesses to support by buying a gift card for the folks in your life who defy your every expectation.
- Downtown Boise Association (valid at dozens of local businesses).
- The Flicks, for your film aficionados.
- Rediscovered Books for the book worms.
- The Mixing Bowl, for your foodies.
