Your Daily Guide

Happy Wednesday! Long before it became one of our city’s favorite Halloween destinations, the Old Idaho Penitentiary was a place of punishment, rebellion, and resilience. Now its crumbling cells and quiet corridors tell both ghost stories and hard truths about Boise’s history. Host Lindsay Van Allen is learning more from the Old Idaho Penitentiary's Samuel Anderson and Anthony Parry with the Idaho Historical Society.

What Boise's Talking About

🏗️ New Tallest Boise Building — By Far

A team of Seattle and Portland developers want to build Boise’s new tallest building on 11th and Front Streets, where a parking garage currently sits next to the Simplot headquarters and Panera. If constructed, it would hit 451 feet as opposed to 8th and Main, which is currently the state’s tallest building at 323 feet. [BoiseDev]

🏟️ CWI Ready for Takeover, Lawmakers Questioning

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) sees its takeover of the Ford Idaho Center as “generational” according to its president Gordon Jones. State lawmakers have raised their eyebrows over the transfer from the City of Nampa to the college, especially with its tens of millions in deferred maintenance costs. [KTVB]

✈️ BOI Not Showing Kristi Noem Video

U.S. Homeland Security wants airports to display a video of its head, Kristi Noem, saying the federal government lockdown is the fault of Democrats. The Boise Airport is not displaying the video in accordance with its own policy not to show political commentary, but a TSA-owned monitor has shown the video. [KTVB]
