| What Boise's Talking About |
| | ⚖️ The Cover-Ups and What It’ll Take to Repair | Inside women’s prisons in Idaho, survivors say they endured years of sexual abuse from staff. But when they sought help, complaints disappeared, investigations went nowhere, and retaliation became routine. Investigate West journalist Whitney Bryen joins host Lindsay Van Allen to break down her year-long investigation, look at how this culture of abuse and cover-up was allowed to thrive, and discuss what it will take to change it. [City Cast Boise] | | 🚰 Boise River Dam Being Upgraded | The state is upgrading the Ridenbaugh Diversion Dam, which is just upriver from the Boise River float put-in at Barber Park. The dam primarily supplies irrigation and flood control, and is nearly 100 years old. It’s an area of the river that has required a lot of fix-ups recently; this summer, the bridge right below the dam needed emergency repair and it will be replaced entirely next year. [Idaho Capital Sun] | | 🏳️⚧️ Trans Athlete Lawsuit Must Continue | A federal district judge in Idaho ruled that Lindsay Hecox cannot remove her lawsuit against the state’s anti-trans athlete ban this late in the lawsuit, which began in 2020. The judge argued that the state has the right to resolve this lawsuit as it could land at the U.S. Supreme Court. [Idaho Statesman, City Cast Boise] |

| | | Shoutout to the first folks who recognized this spot: Andrew, Ashlee, and Jaime. (Blake Hunter / City Cast Boise) |
| First, where was last week’s photo? | Most of y’all got this right — that was Waterbear Bar, which has closed. The bar is still up for sale and they’ll be open for a few holiday pop-ups, though. | | Now for this week’s challenge. | | | Recognize this block? (Blake Hunter / City Cast Boise) |
| This is an abnormal one; we’re looking for an event name here, not just a place name. Hints: | - This picture was taken within the last year.
- This isn’t a live music stage very often.
- It was a blast!
