Hey, Hey Boise readers! I’ve got some sad news to share: The City Cast Boise podcast and this newsletter are shutting down. I’ve had all week to prepare what to say in this announcement, and frankly, I’m still at a loss for words (it’s rare, but it does happen).
What you need to know for now is that we have one more week of content for you before the last Hey Boise and the final podcast episode will publish next Friday, Oct. 24.
What I want you to know is how grateful I am to have had such kind, thoughtful, and adventurous readers for the last three and a half years. I began writing Hey Boise the Monday after I graduated during a hailstorm on the Blue, and I didn’t comprehend the gift that had been given to me then. 840 newsletters later, I’m still pinching myself. The experience has taught me so much about Boise, and Boiseans have taught me that if you want something accomplished in your community, you should be the one to do it.
In a way, we tried that with this newsletter and podcast — and with support from you all. But we haven’t been able to bring in as many listeners, readers, advertisers, and members as we need. Ultimately, our bosses decided to close up shop here for now, with the hope that City Cast will be able to return to Boise in the future. For now, City Cast will continue operating in 13 other cities across the U.S., including Seattle and the Twin Cities, which launch next week.
