Abortion Access and Advocacy In a Post-Roe Idaho

Thousands of people in Boise rallied and marched over the weekend to protest the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling against abortion. There was an impromptu gathering on the statehouse steps Friday and an organized rally at Cherie Buckner Webb Park on Saturday. Donations to local and regional abortion funds flooded websites as people faced the reality of losing access to this healthcare statewide. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood lawyers worked long hours to find a way to stop our state’s so called “trigger law” from going into effect later this summer, a law that would ban abortion in almost every instance.

Right now, we don’t know the fate of our trigger law or our 6-week abortion ban. Both are being challenged in state court. What we do know is the fight for reproductive rights is very active, and there’s lot of info to share about accessing abortion care now, and if the bans go into effect.

That’s why we’re talking with Mistie DelliCarpini-Tolman, the Idaho State Director Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates. She shares her thoughts on how to care for our neighbors in this moment, and why we need to take an inclusive approach to fighting for reproductive rights in Idaho.

Click here for info about the Ontario, Ore. health center, which Planned Parenthood hopes to open soon.
