Boise’s Soul Food Festival Comes Home
The Boise Soul Food Festival is coming home this Saturday. After a nearly 5-year hiatus — and a forced break because of COVID-19 — organizers are bringing the event back to Julia Davis Park where it happened for about 20 years.
But as festival founder Shari Baber tells us, this event is about so much more than delicious gumbo, catfish, mac n’ cheese, and sweet potato pie. It’s about celebrating Black culture and supporting Black-owned businesses in our mostly white city.
Boise Soul Food Festival is open to the public Saturday at Julia Davis Park from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., and organizers expect about 7,000 people to trickle in and out of the park throughout the day.
