Long Live Boise Dance Punk!
Boise has a long history of punk music, from DIY basement house shows to unforgettable sets at Neurolux. And the genre is alive and well in 2022 — thanks in part to The French Tips. Angela Heileson, Rachel Couch and Ivy Merrell formed the band a few years ago and released their latest album “All the Rage” this spring. But the album almost never saw the light of day; it was delayed for a long time because of COVID-19.
As the band joins Built to Spill on tour this month and prepares to play the first Flipside Fest in Garden City, host Frankie Barnhill chats with Ivy Merrell about this moment in Boise’s music scene.
(Here’s the songs we featured from The French Tips: Halo, Rearview and Patient.)
