Spring is nearly over and mentally, the whole City Cast Boise team is on a patio (although we love what we do). So to make sure we find the best patios, 103.5 KISS FM’s Mateo helped round up your options on the podcast with host Lindsay Van Allen.
The Cool New Patio Around the Corner
Revisit our patios for any scenario, which we compiled this time last year. But there are a few new exciting patios worth celebrating that weren’t around in 2024 — and we’re thrilled to have some new patios in our rotation.
Common Ground
First up, the incredible folks at Common Ground have recently upgraded their patio. It’s now shaded, there are some additional plants — and even before then, City Cast Boise producer Evelyn Avitia wanted me to gatekeep this one. But there’s a front patio too, so there’s room for all!
Co-owners Sarah Keck and Laurie Pearman are doing exceptional work for the Ustick community, providing a sorely needed gathering space for the mostly residential Bench area. When I spoke with an organizer for Open Streets Boise about their selection of Ustick Road to be the next site for the festival, Common Ground was the first local entity they mentioned.
Bardenay in Garden City
Here’s a patio for the fans of climate control; this is as close as you can get to being indoors while sitting outside. The third and newest Bardenay location to the Treasure Valley is right on Chinden Boulevard, but it’s tucked around and away from the road’s traffic, sheltered and heated enough that I was able to sit out there even in February.
Goldstein’s Bagels & Bialys
Candidly: Goldstein’s patio was open last year. But it hasn’t received the love it deserves, including from us. It’s a narrow patio, which allows for people-watching and feeling, honestly, like you’re in a bigger city than Boise.
A little interesting context: Goldstein’s is located within the River Myrtle - Old Boise urban renewal district, which expires at the end of the year after 30 years.
