Here’s another mid-season campaign donation check-in about the state of local elections.
One note: At this point in the 2019 mayoral race, there were several debate forums on the docket. Even before the runoff that led to Mayor Lauren McLean’s defeat of former Mayor David Bieter, there were eight publicly held debates, with almost as many candidates. So far this year, I see one debate held by the City Club of Boise in early October, and only three candidates for mayor — and that’s it.
Mayor
Since the start of the year, Mayor Lauren McLean has received about $260,300, and spent about $89,400 so far.
Michael Masterson has received about $155,100, and has spent about $54,800.
The third mayoral contender is Joe Evans, who filed in mid-May, but hasn’t reported any campaign finance figures.
City Council
While races remain quite mild across the board, campaigns have upped their spending considerably in just the last few weeks. Expect to see more signs out and about!
