The City Cast Boise podcast team will host our first live taping as part of the Boise Depot Centennial celebration. Boise Mayor Lauren McLean and Valley Regional Transit CEO and Amtrak board member Elaine Clegg will sit down with City Cast Boise podcast host Lindsay Van Allen to discuss the future of transportation in Boise.
🗓️ You’re invited: April 15, 12 - 1 p.m. at the Boise Depot Great Hall with a Q&A to follow.
The Boise Depot Centennial
The city is throwing a three-day celebration in honor of the Depot’s anniversary from Sunday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 16.
The actual centennial is on April 16.
In addition to our podcast taping, the Boise City Department of Arts and History commissioned local artists Will Miller and Annika Kalac to imagine Boise’s transportation future through animation and collage, which will be projected onto the Depot nightly starting around 8:30 p.m.
Beverage and food trucks will also be available each day, with the most available on Sunday, which is Family Day.
The city noted that parking will be very limited, and is operating two shuttle buses from Ann Morrison Park up to the Depot every 20 minutes on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 5 - 10:30 p.m.

Boiseans crowded the platform of the Union Pacific Mainline Depot on its inaugural day in April 1925. Some even climbed the train engine! (Charlie and Ila Wilcox scrapbook / Boise City Archives)
