We’re inching towards city elections in November, and we’ve taken a look at Boise’s and Meridian’s races so far. Today we’re headed west, with a look at what and who will be on the ballot for city governments in Nampa and Caldwell — at least so far.
Nampa
Nampa will elect its City Council members based on districts for the first time, falling under the same new state law that Meridian and Boise are now held to as cities with over 100,000 residents.
However, Mayor Debbie Kling isn’t up for reelection, and neither are City Council members Victor Rodriguez in Seat 1, Natalie Jangula in Seat 3, and Randy Haverfield in Seat 5.
Seat 2
Darl Bruner, an administrator at Northwest Nazarene University, has served two terms on City Council.
Seat 4
Dale Reynolds was appointed to this seat after a former Council member resigned, and has served in it since June of 2022.
Seat 6
This seat’s currently empty; Former member Jacob Bowers resigned in June, and Kling chose to keep the seat unfilled until the election.
Caldwell
Mayor Jarom Wagoner’s seat isn’t up for reelection this November, nor are Brad Doty in City Council Seat 1, Chuck Stadick in Seat 2, and Diana Register in Seat 3. The candidate filing period for the City of Caldwell opens at the end of the month.
Seat 4
Geoff Williams was appointed to his seat in early 2022.
Seat 5
Chris Allgood has served on the council since 2016 and is re-running.
Scott Tilmant, who’s worked in business and construction industries, is running against Allgood and labels himself as “the conservative choice” for this seat.
Seat 6
John McGee was elected to his seat in 2019.
