It’s easy to pass right through the Collister neighborhood on your way out of town on State Street. But perched on the shoulders of the Boise Foothills, it’s a microcosm of our city, with a little bit of everything.

Collister’s southern border runs along State Street, between 36th Street to the east and Pierce Park Lane to the west. And then to the north, it runs past the highest concentration of homes, covers the Polecat Reserve, and keeps going into the foothills until it meets the northern boundary of the Boise City Area of Impact.

What to Do & Where to Hang Out

🛼 Treasure Valley Skate: The setting for a great date night activity and many a treasured birthday memory, this is Boise’s only roller skating rink. They’ve got a ton of holiday and themed events, so keep an eye out for them.

🤸🏽 Fly!Boise: Reader Megan shared that Fly!Boise, the flying trapeze school, is also on State and Collister (it’s a packed intersection!). The school is currently closed for the season.

Boise Brew Putt: This new 21+ mini golf course is still under construction, but promises a fun time. The course is also made of recycled material!

📚 Library! At Collister: One of the city’s beloved public library branches is also the oldest, outside of the downtown library. It’s got great meeting rooms and, by the numbers, has one of the most active communities of the library branches.

Where to Eat, Drink, & Shop

🎤 Terry’s State Street Saloon: An iconic neighborhood bar with karaoke every night from 9 p.m. until close.

🍷 The Local: With a shaded patio, everything from tacos to clams, and even a dog menu, this wine pub lives up to its name.

🗝️ Enchanting Objects: Lesli pitched this vintage store housed in a century-old farm house. “Chock full of vintage treasures with 9 outbuildings on an acre stuffed with more antiques and vintage. Part of the Collister neighborhood going on 18 years ❤️.”

💐 Edwards Greenhouse: With its own flower shop, frequent classes, and everything you could possibly need for your garden, Edwards is a must-visit in every season. Next weekend, they’ve got a seed swap.
