Veterans Park neighborhood is a favorite spot for Boiseans who want to “get out” without leaving town — there’s a ton of park space, but there’s also water in the form of both the river and ponds, which are a central spot for kayakers, swimmers, and paddle boarders.

But beyond these awesome city-based recreation options, it turns out our Veterans Park readers have some delicious food recommendations after you hop off the water.

Readers Anna and Tracy both wrote to us that Kibrom’s Ethiopian and Eritrean is a favorite, especially for good vegetarian options. That makes sense because the family-run business has been championed by the community for nearly a decade, including through a location change.

Elizabeth had some recommendations: Alchemist Coffee on 27th (“So good — best vegan burrito I’ve ever had.”). She also recommends Trailside Bakery on State Street — which is apparently pretty new.“

[Trailside] is an incredible place! It looks small and unassuming from the outside, but they are incredible! They make all their baked goods — the other day, they had a fresh-out-of-the-oven pesto cheese bun of some sort that was so scrumptious!”
